Oxford City Farm’s festival earlier this month was a roaring success, with over 700 people attending and taking part in activities such as apple pressing, pony rides, dancing, face painting, and petting some rather adorable farm animals. Food was also served, and a local pub provided a bar.
The event brought together the City Farm’s volunteers and supporters from across the community to celebrate the farm securing a wonderful new green space for the community, and the progress they have already made in developing the site. They have recently completed a successful £13,500 crowd funding campaign to bring water and electricity to the site, have started growing produce, planted fruit trees, and have thriving bee hives!
Oxford City Farm are already building on their successful festival and considering plans for a new community kitchen at their site in Florence Park. You can let them know what you think about their plans via their brief survey.
Other highlights from the festival included:
A ‘piglet disco’ from the ‘Mini-sty of sound’ entertained the little ones:
Several local choirs also performed and showcased talent both younger and older:
A huge thank you to all of the more than 30 volunteers that were part of putting on the event, and the Oxford City Farm team who have worked so hard to get their dream to where it is today!
