Travel / transport, Education

The Broken Spoke Bike Coop is a cooperative enterprise that aims to address social inequality, create a healthier environment and strengthen the culture of bicycling in Oxfordshire by teaching people from all backgrounds to become self-sufficient and proficient in bicycle maintenance and riding.

Oxford has the potential to be a trail-blazing city for cycling in the United Kingdom. Access to skills, tools and support for bike maintenance is essential for facilitating this movement. Many of our city’s diverse residents use a bike as a practical transportation tool. However, we strive to make the streets ever more cycle-friendly by creating spaces in which new and existing cyclists can come together to learn and build a sense of community.

The Broken Spoke is about independence, mobility, and learning new skills. It is a multi-stakeholder co-operative for community benefit.
