On Saturday morning, Trev Williams (Rose Hill Runners) is running a marathon to raise awareness of the Climate Crisis. He’ll be running 180 laps (26 miles) around the Oval in Rose Hill and would love support, whether you’d like to join him for a few laps or the whole way, cheer him on or help with the Rose Hill and Iffley Low Carbon stall where we’ll talk to passers-by about the climate crisis. Take the No 3 bus from the centre of Oxford and get off at the last bus stop in Rose Hill. Please bring your own water, energy bars and a high vis jacket if possible. Your support would be greatly appreciated!
A talk by Dr. Neville Hargreaves
Reducing the greenhouse gas emissions of aviation is tougher than for any other form of transport – and emissions are growing fast. Neville is working with British Airways and others on an exciting project to build the UK’s first commercial sustainable jet-fuel plant. This will convert household waste into jet fuel – reducing greenhouse gases and converting hundreds of thousands of tonnes of waste that would otherwise be incinerated or put into landfill. He will describe how the process works, what it can do for the environment present and future, and the many practical challenges of bringing a really big industrial project to fruition.
Tickets £4 from Blewbury Post Office, or on the door (if not sold out); drinks available from the bar. NOTE: Bohams Road is at the western end of Blewbury, off the A417. On entering the road, Clubhouse is first right turn. Do NOT go up the long hill!
Come and be inspired to act in ways that you can manage – both personal and collaborative actions. We’re having “World Cafe” style discussions where people can stay at one table as long as they want and then move on. The topics are: Food, Transport, Energy, Money, Getting Involved and there will also be a children’s action table.
We’re encouraging people to come up with something new that they can commit to ideally in each of these topics.
There will be tea and cake. All are welcome, including children.
