A practical course with indoor and outdoor learning, including visits to various local projects such as eco buildings, rooftop gardens, organic gardens, community orchards and growing projects.
This PDC is designed to give you the knowledge to design your growing space, grow your own food, store it over the seasons and even create a small income from growing.
The course will be weighted towards the specialism of Forest Gardening, a system which demonstrates efficiency in growing, with high production yields.
If you want to bring sustainability and food growing into your life, this is the course for you.

£480 – low waged (up to £18K/yr)

This course is certificated by the Permaculture Association UK and by LASER learning awards at Levels 1, 2 and 3 (GCSE – A-level equivalent).
A maximum of two days can be missed and still allow you to receive your certificate.

By the end of this course you will have a basic knowledge of how to map and design your own space and have a design to take home.
This course will be held over two evenings on February 13 & 20, from 6:30-9pm each evening.
We now have weekly gardening, building and growing days to begin creating a vegetable garden which will be open to community groups and individuals who are keen to be outdoors, live closer to nature, learn and share skills and make new friends. Tea and homemade soup will be provided!
Join us as we work together to turn a patch of field into an ABUNDANT GARDEN for many to enjoy! We’re in early days of the project and we welcome input, interest and ideas because there are tons of exciting things that could happen here . . .
We welcome people from all backgrounds and all ages. Whatever your experience, there’ll be something for you to enjoy!
Talking Shop’s Market & Cafe
We sell delicious local produce and run a great cafe every Saturday morning from 9am to midday in the Village Hall, Sandford-on-Thames.
The Saturday Market & Cafe was started as a fundraiser and as an opportunity to investigate the market, to work with and to build up a team of volunteers and to learn about running a shop of sorts.
The Market is run completely by volunteers – we have a pool of about 60 people involved and about 15 work on any Saturday morning to run the market.

We have space for several additional guest pitches. We charge a £10 pitch fee, you keep your takings. We’re always excited to invite new people to join us. The East Oxford Farmers’ & Community Market is a small, friendly local market which can provide the staples for your weekly shop, all from sources within 30 miles of Oxford: bread, eggs, milk, vegetables, cheese, various meats, refills for cleaning supplies – as well as a range of other products such as jewellery, clothing and secondhand books.
It has been running since August 2006, and is a non-profit making organisation, run by a committee and a group of volunteers.
We are passionate about the market and what it sells. We actively source food from within 30 miles of Oxford and encourage community stalls run by local residents. We also offer Fairtrade produce from further afield and try to make sure it comes to us by land or ship. Further details are available in our Market Manifesto.
The market has a cafe which runs each week selling delicious breakfasts, lunches, cakes and fair-trade teas and coffee. This is a lovely place to meet up and take a break from shopping.

The South Oxford Farmers and Community Market is a weekly market selling ethically-produced local, seasonaland/or organic food and non-food goods. ‘Local’ means produced within a 30-mile radius of Oxford: ‘produced’ means containing a significant quantity of local ingredients and labour.The market is held in South Oxford Community Centre every Sundays from 9.30am to 12pm.

We meet every Sunday afternoon to garden together, share a cup of tea and cake, learn about growing and take home fresh fruit and veg.
In the darker months of the year (Nov-Apr) we meet from 12-4pm on Sundays and when the days are longer (May-Oct) we meet from 1-5pm on Sundays and from 5-8pm on Wednesdays.
Our garden is free to access and we welcome people of all levels of experience to share the space in an inclusive and supportive environment.
