Food Surplus Collaborate (Autumn 2019) @ West Oxford Community Centre
Sep 19 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Food Surplus Collaborate (Autumn 2019) @ West Oxford Community Centre | England | United Kingdom

The Food Surplus Collaborate meeting is an opportunity for Community Action Groups (CAGs) involved in projects that work with food surplus to meet up, share and find ways of working together.

The meeting is open to members of the CAG network, as well as other associated, like-minded groups and organisations. We also moderate theme mailing lists for CAGs to communicate with each other between meetings.

As a large network spread across the county, the meetings are an important chance for CAGs to:

  • Discover more about other groups’ activities and achievements
  • Share knowledge and skills
  • Explore opportunities for collaborative projects and funding bids
  • Gain advice and support from The CAG Project staff and other members
  • Network and socialise with other members

Meetings are held biannually across a range of themes – please see our page on Collaborate Groups for more details on next meetings of all the groups.

If you are a member of a group wishing to take part in this meeting then please get in touch with The CAG Project staff team: info@cagoxfordshire.org.uk

If you’re attending, please let us know in advance if you have any accessibility requirements, or if you aren’t sure how best to travel to the venue. Email us info@cagoxfordshire.org.uk and we’ll do our very best to help.

Thames WaterBlitz @ Thames Valley
Sep 20 – Sep 23 all-day
Thames WaterBlitz @ Thames Valley | England | United Kingdom

The Thames WaterBlitz is a free and exciting activity open to anyone within the Thames Valley (you can check if you live in the Thames catchment area by entering your postcode in our online map available at: https://ewgis.org/flinks-v1.0/). The WaterBlitz is a four-day event run by Earthwatch (https://earthwatch.org.uk/) where volunteers use water testing kits to collect as many water quality samples as possible. The aim is to get an overview of the water quality in rivers, lakes, ponds and streams throughout the Thames Valley.

This will be the ninth WaterBlitz taking place in the Thames Valley, but will be the first pan-European WaterBlitz event: Luxembourg, Paris and Dublin will all be joining for the first time this year, to help us on our mission to understand and solve water quality issues.

This autumn’s WaterBlitz will run between the 20th-23rd September and is timed to coincide with regular water quality monitoring undertaken by CEH (Centre for Ecology & Hydrology). Sampling at the same time as CEH helps to provide information from areas and water body types that would otherwise not be monitored. WaterBlitzes are also a fun learning experience for any volunteer that is interested in their local environment, and would like to learn more about water quality. This year’s WaterBlitz is funded by Thames Water as part of its ongoing commitment to local water quality through the Community Investment Fund.

You can register for your free kit by following this link: https://earthwatch.org.uk/get-involved/waterblitz, where you will also be able to find further information. Please feel free to help us to promote this event by forwarding the registration link or sharing the event on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #WaterBlitz.

Please feel free to email us at water@earthwatch.org.uk if you have any questions.
