High St Chinnor OX39 4DH Oxfordshire United Kingdom [Map]
We are a small non-profit voluntary organisation working with the community to improve the environmental and economic sustainability of Chinnor. We work with the parish council, other organisations and volunteers to develop and deliver information, advice and project initiatives to “green” our communities and improve economic resilience. We create enjoyable, sociable volunteering opportunities to get involved in the community.
The group have been actively working to support the village and the local environment since 2011. During this time we have organised and carried out: bi-annual village litter picks concentrating on the network of footpaths and bridleways surrounding Chinnor; repopulated an ancient boundary hedge and replanted it with many wildlife friendly indigenous species; carried out Portable Appliance Testing on electrical equipment at local swap shops ensuring electrical equipment can continue to be donated and thus be given a new lease of life; thermal imaged local household and public buildings to assist householders to see heat leaking from their home and take the necessary action; organised working parties for WW1 memorial tree planting in the villages of Chinnor and Henton and held Seed & Plant Swaps to encourage people to try and grow plants and vegetables.
We meet about 8 times a year (depending on ongoing projects) at 7-30-9:30 pm on a Monday at The Village Centre in Chinnor. Details of the meetings can be found on our website.
