Bicester Green is a social enterprise that carries out practical activities which divert goods from the waste stream that would otherwise go to landfill. Working with a wide range of volunteers we rescue, repair and sell affordable furniture and electrical items to those in need, and second hand bicycles that help people get around in a healthy, sustainable and low cost way. We also run a programme of educational activities, manage a host of free resources and provide sustainability advice to the local community. The practical techniques and skills developed at the centre are being disseminated through public events, training sessions, word of mouth, and literature.
We currently host around 30 volunteers a week and have helped 9 volunteers in to work as a result of their time with us. We have also run over 100 events that were attended by nearly 1000 local residents. We have brought over 300 bikes back into service and our combined activities have saved over 10,000kg of items from being thrown into landfill.
